Line of inquiry 1: Ways government promote the right to protest and elect
1.NHRI
National human rights institutions are state bodies with constitutional commissions to protect and promote human rights.
The general role of NHRIs is to address discrimination in all kinds of human rights, as well as to promote the protection of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights.
2.UN
UN is an international organization that is developed in 1945.They protect human rights, peace and security. According to the UN, the right to peaceful assembly and association is one of the most important human rights that we possess. It is the right to publicly or privately and collectively express oneself. These rights protect peoples’ ability to come together and work for the common good. Now, the freedom of peaceful assembly is placed in the international law of fundamental freedom.
How does the government protect the freedom to vote in the US?
The government can make all eligible Americans participate in elections so that they maintain an electoral system that can be a role model for democracy throughout the world by:
-Automating voter registration so government protects and promotes our freedom to vote
-Instituting elections day voter registration so that eligible voters aren't denied their right to vote at the polling place without recourse
-Prohibiting deceptive practices where fraudulent information is distributed to prevent people from voting
-Protecting voters by guarding against attempts to remove eligible voters from the voting rolls or use bureaucratic to challenge eligible voters at the polls
-Restoring voting rights to all citizens who have been restored to society
The current voter registration system in America doesn’t work very well. Because of that, a lot of people lose the right to vote. The system should be improved so everybody who is entitled to vote can vote.
It’s the government’s job to make sure people are registered to vote and participate in elections. When people deal with the government, the government should ask them if they want to be registered to vote. This makes it the job of the government to register rather than the voters themselves. People can also register online.
Automatic voter registration makes it easier to register to vote. But sometimes people don’t manage to get registered, and find out on Election Day that they are not registered to vote. But under the law people are allowed to register and vote on election day.
It is the government’s responsibility to keep the voting lists. Sometimes people get taken out of the registration list, but with same day registration, even if you get taken out of the list, you can still vote. Same day registration also increases voter participation. It is so popular that the overwhelming majority of voters voted to reinstate same day registration after the 40-year old program was cancelled.
Same day registration is available in nine states and the district of Columbia and Connecticut, which only recently allowed same day registration. The states that have the same day registration, have higher voter participation. In 2008, the top 5 voter registrations have same day registration.
The government has to do the following:
Make sure that the voters feel safe and the election congress Make sure that everyone accepts the results Prepare the kits Make the national register of electors Select the location for the polling sites Launch the election and nominate the winning president.

Line of inquiry 2: Reasons for participation in assemblies, associations, and elections
Why do people vote?
1. It is important for people to vote in elections so that they can have a higher chance that the politician representing them will reflect their views.
2. Voting for our leaders can strengthen our human rights. Voting for a leader is not only for the government, it is also for you. Your vote matters to yourself and everybody else in the nation. The government wants to hear your opinion. Being free of giving an opinion is a part of our human rights that are very important.
3. Voting can make our leaders more confident. When we elect the leader we think is the best, that leader will be more confident in his/her activities. So, in the debate, the candidates represent two polar opposite views on issues like women’s rights, immigration, healthcare, education and taxes, and you undoubtedly have some opinion on it. As a voter, you will be sharing your opinion on questions like: Who should be getting tax breaks? Should the government help fund education? So, your opinion must be heard.
Why do people protest and demonstrate?
They protest and demonstrate because they think they have a bad life. It may ruin the country's economy, but it still helps.
How Great leaders protest: Authentic leaders go much deeper than their life story, what they have been through, or the issues they have. They embrace their true self and their ethical values along with their weaknesses and use their strengths to their advantage without worrying about what others think. They also have learned to manage their fears by first acknowledging their fear and the causes, and then talking about their fears openly and honestly. They possess the courage to act ethically and transparently as they continue to push through their fear to achieve their goals. They speak from their heart with passion when they protest. They accept who they are and they always have good opinions. They do not strive for perfection, they strive for excellence. Finally the most important thing, they dream of a better future. Authentic leaders dream of all the positive possibilities for the future.
1. To find an identity: Some people never believed that they are worthy . They did their best to find anything to be good at but they failed. Then all of a sudden they found a golden opportunity to feel worthy. Those people go to protests in order to build the identity they were always searching for and to feel worthy. What can make a person feel more worthy than changing the fate of his/her country? Of course if you asked any of those people about the reason that made them protest they will reply saying that saving the country was their ultimate goal (see also Psychological identity problems).
2. Peer pressure & Pleasing others: In the solid Self confidence program. People who have a low self esteem do their best to please others just to get their approval. During revolutions and protests people start judging and criticizing those who don't participate in the events. Under the effect of peer pressure the ones with low self esteem find themselves forced to take a direction just to please others and not because they really believed in what was going on.
Line of inquiry 3: Roles and responsibilities of people participating in assemblies, elections, and associations
- In the United Kingdom:
Though having different type of government from Indonesia, however, the responsibilities of the assembly members in the United Kingdom more or less are the same. The assembly members work to support well-run elections and referendums in the United Kingdom to make sure that they can offer support and guidance to those involved. They also want to make sure that all voters know what they need to know about voting for a candidate.
As a part of the United Kingdom, the assembly members in Wales are the people elected to represent a specific area of Wales as member of a political party. They represent the interests of Wales and its people, make laws for Wales and hold the Wales government to account. The assembly members meet twice a week to discuss the problems with Welsh government. Then, they ask the government official's permission. After that, they start their protest.
Assembly Members also meet in committees that have been set up by the Assembly for specific tasks. These include examining laws, scrutinising policy, running the Assembly’s business and carrying out other tasks.
Through committees, the Assembly is able to carry out more work more quickly and Members are able to specialise in particular fields. The membership of committees usually roughly matches the overall representation of the parties within the Assembly. The Assembly decides which Members should be on a committee. Other Assembly Members can usually attend committee meetings, but they are not able to vote.
